SIR DEREK JACOBI - SULLA

Jacobi is one of Britain’s foremost stage and screen actors.
On graduating from Cambridge in 1960, after an acclaimed performance of EDWARD II, he became a member of the Birmingham Rep. His talent was recognized by Laurence Olivier who invited him to become one of the eight founding members of the new National Theatre. Olivier cast him as Cassio in OTHELLO and Andrei in THE THREE SISTERS.

After eight years at the National Theatre, Jacobi then starred in the BBC miniseries MAN OF STRAW and the blockbuster series I, CLAUDIUS, cementing his popular reputation.

In between many awarded and notable theatrical performance, Jacobi’s film appearances include roles in DEAD AGAIN, HAMLET, LOVE IS THE DEVIL, UNDERWORLD, EVOLUTION. He played Gracchus in GLADIATOR, Mr. Wheen in NANNY MCPHEE, and starred in THE RIDDLE, GOLDEN COMPASS, ENDGAME, THE KING’S SPEECH.

His many TV appearances include starring roles in THE JURY, THE LONG FIRM, PINOCHET IN SUBURBIA.

He has been intensely busy during 2011, 2012 and 2013 working in film, TV and theatre. He played KING LEAR to great acclaim in sold out performances across the UK and at BAM Harvey Theatre, Brooklyn, NY. Kani received an Olivier Award nomination for his role in MY CHILDREN, MY AFRICA! won a Tony Award in 1975 for SIZWE BANZI IS DEAD and the ISLAND. In 2003 he was awarded a Fleur du Cap award for best actor and a special Obie award for his extraordinary contribution to theatre in the USA. He has also won a Life Time Award (SAFTA Awards), the Avanti Hall of Fame Award from the South African film, television and advertising industries, an M-Net Plum award, a Clio award, the Hiroshima Peace Culture Foundation Award for the year 2000 and the Olive Schreiner Prize for 2005. He was voted 51st in the Top 100 Great South Africans in 2004. In 2006, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Cape Town.


WARREN ADLER- CAESAR, CO-PRODUCER

Warren Adler is CEO of Long Range Systems, a communications company. Prior to setting up this business, Warren had a successful financial services company called St Bartz Consulting. St Bartz was sold in December 2005.

In December 2005, Warren completed an advanced level acting course. He followed this by starting a parallel career, launching straight into the world of film, playing a supporting lead role in action packed local thriller, THE HITCHIKER.

Richard, born in India, was educated in Dorset and London, where he has lived since graduating from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.

GUENTER SINGER - SWOOPER-MACER

Born and raised in Austria, Gunter Singer turned to kickboxing at an early age. After a stint in the military he moved to the US to pursue his sport professionally. Competing at Las Vegas, he won the World Championship in his category. He has also worked as a bodyguard in the film industry.


VANESHRAN ARUMUGAM - CINNA

Vaneshran has a B.A.Hons. in Social Anthropology and Dramatic Art (University of the Witwatersrand), a M.A. in Performance and Theatremaking (University of Cape Town) and was awarded a full scholarship at Columbia University, NYC, by the International Fellowship Programme (Ford Foundation). In addition he has completed numerous courses in martial arts, stunt work, voice and dance training, emotional intelligence, creativity, improvisation and communication. He frequently teaches acting courses and lectures in Voice and Acting for the Screen (Cape Town City Varsity Drama Department). He has developed and taught a transpersonal awareness course for greater efficiency and social harmony.

JONATHAN NKALA - CHRYSOGONUS

Jonathan is a published playwright, actor, poet and comedian. Arriving in South Africa from the ravaged Zimbabwe in 2002, he worked as a gardener, handyman and vendor. In 2006 he met Bo Petersen, who worked with him as his drama coach. They formed a dynamic partnership and together created THE CROSSING and THE BICYCLE THIEF, both widely performed in South Africa and Harare.

Jonathan acted in the feature films DISGRACE and JAIL CAESAR, and performed his poetry in the South African Parliament on World Refugee Day and at the Global Dancefest (New Mexico, USA).

His plays, THE CROSSING, THE BICYCLE THIEF, FAITH IN LOVE and COCKROACH, a 3 play anthology, have been published by Junkets and performed in South Africa.


NOBUHLE KETELO - SERVILIA

Nobuhle, born in the ghettos of the Eastern Cape, started singing at the age of twelve to support her impoverished family. She is now an accomplished actress, musician, praise poetess and storyteller.

Nobuhle released her first album - BACK TO YOUR ROOTS - in 2005, selling over 5,000 copies locally and internationally. She has collaborated with other artists in South Africa and internationally - Fresh Ground Remix,Thanduxolo, Ben Amato, Shamle, Lynn Holmes - and has done a beautiful collaboration with Desert Rose - SPIRIT OF AFRICA.

She has performed in several Arts Cape musical productions.

PETER JOHN CHRISTIANS - CICERO

Peter John Christians started writing hip hop lyrics, poetry and slam poetry in 2006 whilst serving in Pollsmoor Prison. In 2007 he formed INCARCERATED KNOWLEDGE, a hip hop crew of rappers and dancers, hosting their first performance in Pollsmoor Prison on on 27th March, Human Rights Day. Also in 2007 he started working on JAIL CAESAR with INCARCERATED KNOWLEDGE, contributing it’s talents as a crew.

Peter John, a school drop out, completed ABET level 4, to further his education, and he co-ordinated performance events and fundraisers with warders and volunteers (radio personalities, business men, church members).

After his release in 2007, while working in Paint and Décor, he completed parole without violation, voluntarily starting a community project, training youth in life skills, hip hop dancing and creative writing. He also recorded a 5 track demo and the a 14 track album INCARCERATED KNOWLEDGE which still receives airplay on local radio stations.

He is currently collaborating with Plexus Films on a documentary about INCARCERATED KNOWLEDGE, and is writing a screenplay XAN LION OF THE KHALAHARI for INDABA UNIVERSAL.



BO PETERSEN - AURELIA

Bo received a Bilingual Performer’s Diploma in Drama at Cape Town University, and has completed many training workshops.

Her films include: CHRONICLES, I NOW PRONOUNCE YOU BLACK AND WHITE, AMELIA, ENDGAME, TO BE FIRST, OUT ON A LIMB, THE WOODEN CAMERA, CAPE OF GOOD HOPE, CITIZEN VERDICT, SANDMOTHER.

Bo’s TV credits include: ACUITY, OUTCASTS, ATLANTIS, ELLA BLUE, KNOWN GODS, ORION, DEATH IN THE FAMILY, THIS LIFE, SCOOP SCHOOMBIE, MADAM AND EVE, THE LEGEND OF ANGEL VALLEY.

ALICE KRIGE - ACTOR,  PRODUCER

Alice Krige, having debuted in the Oscar winning CHARIOTS OF FIRE, has worked across mainstream and independent film, TV and Theatre, creating a wide and awarded body of work.

 As a producer, she has been committed to telling the stories of the war ravaged, the downtrodden and dismissed; the heroes of everyday life. 

JAIL CAESAR: shot in three prisons in South Africa, Wales and Canada. As primary producer she liaised with the governments & prison services of each country, hands-on in the development / financing, pre-production, production & post phases. 

She was also responsible for JC’s festival life, worked with JC’s sales agents, House of Film, & US distributors, Corinth. 

JAIL CAESAR won Best Feature Film at the Berlin Independent Film Festival, was nominated for Best Feature at the Raindance Film Festival London, The Reader’s Critics Choice at the Chicago International Film Festival. And Best Producer at the Madrid International Film Festival.

SAHIL GILL -
CO-PRODUCER EDITOR POST-PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR   

Sahil Gill was born and raised in India. He worked in theatre as an actor and director for several years before moving over to television and film. He had a successful stint producing advertisements and drama in India and subsequently went to the London Film School to get his Masters in Film.

He has been working in the UK and US for various post-production houses over the past eight years, and has worked on many award winning shows, short films and advertising. He is currently working principally as an editor.

He recently started a production company, Play It Again Films.

MARTYN NAYLOR MBE - EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Martyn graduated from the London School of Economics with a B.Sc.(Econ) and B.Sc Political Science & MBA from the University of New Mexico.

With a background in Economics, Naylor initially taught economics at Hong Kong University before joining the London Press Exchange Group, an advertising agency. There he worked in consumer and industrial research, prior to researching the company’s overseas requirements. He was then dispatched to Tokyo to set up an office there, later taken over by Leo Burnett Company of Chicago. He ran the Japan branch until Leo Burnett moved into a joint venture with a major Japanese agency. At this time Martyn established Naylor Hara International KK (NHI) with a former colleague (ultimately becoming President, then Chairman) and taking much of the business to his new agency, and representing Dutch and later European dairy interests in Japan over many years.

NHI diversified and the play agency division expanded rapidly, leading to consultancy in the entertainment sector generally, though theatre remains of prime importance. Martyn represents and liaises with the major agencies in New York, London, Paris and other European cities. He licenses more than 100 productions of foreign plays and musicals each year in Japan, China, Korea and Singapore, translated into local languages.

Martyn was honoured by H M The Queen, being made a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire, for services to Anglo Japanese relations, and for many years has been the Executive Director of the Japan British Society.

KWEKU MANDELA - EXECUTIVE PRODUCER

Kweku was born in Transkei, South Africa, and grew up in America, only returning to his homeland in 1993 after his grandfather was released from 27 years of political incarceration. Kewku attended APA International Film School in Sydney with long time collaborator Stefan Vincent. They are currently working on a number of screenplays.

Kweku is very active in the South African film and entertainment industries, directing and producing projects with his South African production company, Mannequin Pictures, and working on a variety of other locally produced pictures.

He co-directed and produced a documentary feature about his grandfather entitled MANDELA’S CHILDREN and is the executive producer of THE BANG BANG CLUB

The principals, Teri Yabrow and Max Almy are award winning artists and creative directors who specialize in digital design and cross media projects. They are also internationally exhibited media and digital artists, creators of single channel art videos and interactive multi-media installation work.

Christoph Bauschinger is a Composer and Music Editor based in London. With a strong background in performing multiple instruments as well as engineering, he has worked on every aspect of Film Music in over 30 feature films.

Recent projects include Tim Burton’s DARK SHADOWS, FRANKENWEENIE with composer Danny Elfman, DIMENSIONS, recording with the London Metropolitan Orchestra and Nina Conti’s award winning documentary Her Master’s Voice for the BBC.

Christoph is currently music editing the 3rd season of HBO’s STRIKEBACK: VENGEANCE series.

RUBAN BYRNE - COMPOSER 

Ruban has played for Hush The Many (guitar), and SonVer ( guitar, bass, samples, keyboard), for Nadine Khouri (guitar and backing vox) and for Evi Vine (bass).

RICHARD FORDHAM - SUPERVISING SOUND EDITOR 

Richard grew up in the New Forest and graduated from Bournemouth Film School in 1997. His obvious talent was noticed early on and he was thrown in at the deep end, working on a major feature film in London. He has worked in the film and television industry now for nearly 15 years, and his creativity, flexibility, varied skill-set and positive attitude have allowed him to tackle many different sound projects.

Richard's credits include the sound BAFTA winning CASINO ROYALE, numerous other feature films, top television productions, and some more modest independent productions.

His commitment to and great love for his job is always present.

DAVID MACKIE- SOUND EDITOR

David is primarily a Sound Editor / Assistant Editor with extensive experience in post sound (including extensive location FX recording) and has a 5.1 Pro Tools / Final Cut Pro Cutting room in Brixton. 
He has worked on a range of feature films: WORLD WAR Z, ARTHUR CHRISTMAS, GREENZONE, QUANTUM OF SOLACE, CASINO ROYALE, BREAKING AND ENTERING, HANNIBAL RISING, THE LAST DROP, CORPSE BRIDE, KINGDOM OF HEAVEN, DOOM, ALEXANDER and MRS. HARRIS (TV) as Assistant Sound Editor.

Patrick worked as a production manager on JAIL CAESAR while in Pollsmoor. On being released from Pollsmoor, he completed a technical training course and apprenticeship in film and is now working as crew in lighting departments on films in South Africa, having most recently worked on LONG WALK TO FREEDOM..

Dom is an experienced Editor, specialising mostly in online these days, but trained as a BBC trainee on a Steenbeck. He has a wide knowledge ranging from traditional formats right up to latest digital delivery. 
  
He has worked extensively in motion graphics and an editor, assistant editor or conform editor on the films ​GLAMOUR DOLLS, I AM SOLDIER and SHINGETSU and on TV on NASA's Unplained Files, PXG, The Stables, Beat The Cyborgs, LanJam and Binweevils which won 3 BAFTA awards.
